3. Scope and purpose of data processing; legal basis

(a) Access to the website

If you visit our website or download data from our web pages, information about you is automatically transmitted and collected and stored in a log file; this personal data being processed includes:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system used
  • Previously visited website via which you came to our website (Referrer URL)
  • (Currently) visited webpage
  • Date and time you accessed our site
  • Your Internet Protocol (IP) address which we subsequently anonymize

We do not assign this data to specific users, but store it separately from other personal data.
Our processing of this data is based on our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used in order to improve our services on the website.

§ Our group companies for purposes concurrent with this Privacy Policy. We take precautions to allow access to personal data only to those employees who have a legitimate business reason for access and who are contractually prohibited from using the personal data for any other purpose.

The exact retention periods depend on the type of information and the reason for its collection and processing, as well as the nature of the legal requirement. For example, we retain your personal data when we are required to do so by law.

Once the purpose for which we processed your data has been achieved and we no longer have any other legal permission or obligation to retain your personal data for other pusposes, we will either delete, anonymize, or restrict access to it.

We store your personal data for as long as necessary for the purpose for which your personal data was collected and processed. If there is no longer a need for processing, we delete your personal data. Legal storage obligations remain unaffected.

The safeguards include the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses as amended on 4 June 2021 pursuant to Article 46(2) of the GDPR.

We use service providers located in Korea, thus outside the European Economic Area. We secure the transfer of your personal data to Korea by means of EU standard contract clauses. You may request a copy of the clauses at info.sdieu@samsung.com.
